!!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! magazine reports on the demise in at least some countries of the forgotten Honda Accord. Sales have fallen to negligible levels and it gets the chop and is expected to remain chopped.

Not in North America of course where people can’t get enough of them (albeit a different car with the same name).

Have an Accord while it’s still around.

It’s true. There hasn’t been a Japanese Civic for a few years as well—the Fit/Jazz got bigger and took the Civic’s place but the Civic couldn’t oust the Accord

There’s so much choice in the sector I think people just sort of forgot about it. When Ford, Mazda, Vauxhall, Kia, Hyundai etc all have capable rivals at usually better prices its hard to consider the Honda.

Hopefully it dies in the US too

As an Accord driver I find this sad, but as I like to buy used or very used it’s nothing to worry about for years to come. In fact, my 99 sedan acted a bit weird today, so if I had to get something else rather sooner than later I’d probably look for an early ‘00s tourer like this. I just love the Volvo-esque rear.

I think this Accord (Acura TSX) is already dead in North America.

It is. The TLX replaced both the TSX and the TL.

Too bad no manual TSX wagon :(

Honestly, that TSX/TLX/Euro Accord should just be the US Accord (ours is fucking HUGE, and that one is actually *smaller* than the previous gen!). The bigger US Accord should be the Acura, and then the Accord would be the same worldwide.

Yes, the Accord was priced too high for its name.

Which is really too bad. The TSX/Accord is a really fun car. I don’t know much about the TLX but I hope Honda got it right.

The TLX is really nice, and apparently fairly good to drive.

The TLX is actually supposed to drive really nice and I’ve seen a bunch around town already. The only thing I don’t like about them is the push-button shifter. Not only does it make things more complicated, it takes up as much room as a regular shifter would.

That’s the best looking Acura in at least 7 years.

Badge engineering - Ford and GM were so good at that in the 60s and 70s.

The current accord downsized because the previous one went full-size according to size class laws.

Push button? Not when it’s an Accord.

The Accord/TSX give you a nice normal shifter, the TLX gives you this clusterfuck

But more cupholders! Cupholders are good.
